Learn more about volunteering with our programs

We have been very fortunate to collaborate with local groups that have supported our programs tremendously.

Our collaboration with other community groups allows us to provide high quality programming.

For example, this past year we partnered with Options and Advocacy to start a Bilingual Bicultural Service Navigation Program to support any family with McHenry County in increasing their knowledge of and access to community resources, such as mental health services. We continue to collaborate with the McHenry Public Library, the McHenry Police Department, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, Pioneer Center for Human Services and others to meet our clients’ diverse needs and to provide enriching activities.

In August of 2016, The Chapel generously donated backpacks and school supplies for more than 80 of our youth, preparing them for the school year! We have also been generously supported by the congregation of the First United Methodist Church of McHenry. Each week the church donates 29 bags full of snack and meal items to feed hungry children over the weekends. This summer we are offering healthy lunches and snacks to 25 children through the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

We could not do all that we do without the support of our dedicated volunteers. This fiscal year, our volunteers gave an average of over 100 hours per month! We have continued collaborating with Big Brothers Big Sisters of McHenry County to offer one-on-one mentoring for our students for an hour each week. We also continue to work with McHenry West Campus’ National Honors Society, who sends us positive role models to support our students academically.

we have continued to diversify and strengthen our funding sources to ensure the sustainability of our programs and services to the community.

And we are excited to keep expanding our programs and services to the community!

We thank you for supporting our organization and families. We are honored to have been serving McHenry County families for more than 13 years and look forward to another year in this great community! --- Lupe Ortiz Executive Director
